Looking for a new fitness program? How about trying the Presidential Fitness Challenge. This challenge comes in three varieties:

1. The Active Lifestyle Program - For those of you who aren't active on a daily basis yet, this is a great way to begin. The rules are basically to get a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise at least 5 days a week, for a total of 6 weeks.

2. The Presidential Champions Program - If you're already active and want a new challenge, this program is for you. Your goal is to see how many points you can earn by staying active. Points are based on the amount of energy each activity burns. So the more active you are, the more points you'll get. When you reach 20,000 points, you'll earn a Bronze award. Then you can continue on in the Presidential Champions program for a Silver or Gold award.

3. The Advanced Performance Presidential Champions Program - This is basically the same system as the Presidential Champions Program, except that the award goals are higher. For instance, you need to get 40,000 points to earn a Bronze award.

I registered online on December 28th. I never got my membership yet. Is anyone else having this problem. Last year I registered directly at the store and got it on time.

Today was the first day me and my friend decided to go to the gym, we tried the other day and it closed when we got there. Haha, totally my mistake. We did a small workout, tomorrow we'll go longer I hope. I hope I can hold up. I am rather annoyed with my body, I'm ashamed that it cannot go as long as I want it to that it doesn't want to work the way I want it to!

We were on the eliptical and my feet started going numb as I neared the one mile mark, then... my legs... I had to stop. I felt so utterly embarrassed. So now I have a new goal. 2-3 miles on Eliptical by the end of the challenge.

I'm so sore at the moment, it felt good but now its painful in my legs but not like really bad pain just you can feel what you've worked and your body is screaming, "DEAR LORD!!!! WHAT DID YOU MAKE ME DO!!" Hahaha ^^; Thats how I feel ... I think my bodies screaming that right now as I sit here thinking of bed. Anyway just wanted to post hope everyone else has started the challenge off on the right foot.

Hey! I don't know if you'd be interested in this or not. But I was looking around to find some sort of loose guidelines on things to eat and how many servings and what exactly IS a serving. I stumbled upon this website. I printed it off to help me. There is even a check off to keep you on track for eating. I swear, I get going and then I'm totally hungry. For me I feel like having this checkoff everyday will help me to eat the right thing for a snack, you know?

I lost two pounds this week! w00t!

I start at Bally's tomorrow. I'm hoping there is a pool. You see I'm also a lifeguard and I want to lower my 500 time. Right now it's pretty damn slow. I think I'll reward myself by going tanning... lol. I love that I wrote also, as if you know this long list about what/who I am.

I feel like if every time I watched a weight loss infomercial and instead of watching from the couch I was watching whilst riding the bike or the elipticals I would be a serious size 2.

Oh Hey from Wa! [13 Jan 2005|10:06am]

Hey friends! Well, I was quite excited to have found this community last night. I signed up for the Challenge. But for me it was sort of a backhanded turn. You see every year I make a resolution to lose weight and get in shape. And every year I end up at McDonalds ordering a Big Mac meal and feeling guilty about cheating. So this year I decided to motivate myself. I'm currently walking/swimming/jogging all the miles it takes to get to Oprah (1726) and then when I make it, I'm going on a trip there. I've finally figured out something to get me motivated! I live in Washington and don't have a membership to a gym, because I'm just not sure which one to join. So, I've signed up for the challenge to help me get moving and also to keep me out of the cold! I've been walking and running on the track at my old high school in like 20ish degree weather. The coldness was starting to get me lazy and unmotivated.

I've been told I carry my weight well. I mean I finally told my friend how much I weigh and she laughed at me and told me not to make up lies to make her feel skinnier. I just carry my weight well. And I do have a lot of muscle under there. I suppose if I was to have a goal it would be to work out so much my chest got smaller! =) But seriously, here's me:

Age: 23
Height: 5'5.75" (those bastards at the WA DMV would not let me put 5'6"!!)
Weight: 235
Goal: Feel healthier and more in shape, if my clothes fall off in the process then w00t.

I made a New Years resolution to workout more because I wanted to be more toned and, since I don't have cable, didn't realize until recently that it lines up with the DSC Body Challenge. So I signed up. And boy, oh boy, am I happy to have found this LJ community for support! I'm excited to encourage and be encouraged.

Here's my story: I am not doing this to lose weight. In fact, I honestly hope to gain some (since muscle is denser than fat). However, despite the fact that the scales flatter me when I happen upon one, I am horribly out of shape. I'm bulgy and saggy and I've got wiggly underarms that old women have. In short: I need muscle. So, I hope you all can accept me into this challenge in order to get toned like the rest of you, because even scrawny girls could use the ability to do a push-up if need be. ^_^

Weight: 120
Goal: 115 but TONED

It was under dieting in my interests. I am so glad to have found it. I am registered to take the challenge. I just finally got my kit a few weeks ago. I had got an E-mail saying that they were backed up in sending them because of the over-whelming response. They sent me a 2 week free pass to print out from Bally in the meantime. The guy at Bally did not know anything about this...So I brought him my letter from Discovery explaining this. He was grateful for it. He told me, even if the pass did not come I could continue till my 3 months was up. Another thing, I drove 4 hours to register at a Discovery Zone store. Because the store said I had to be there to physically weigh in! Even if I registered on line. Come to find out, Bally itself could of did the weigh in! Bally is only 30 minutes from my house. The manager that I gave the letter too about the 2 week pass they sent me told me this. He said he would of been PO'd at them. He told me I could weigh out at right at the Gym and not have to drive 4 hours again. Also they upped the time for weigh out till the 17th. I have lost 10 pounds so far & am doing pretty good. This is really an awesome thing they are doing. Good luck to all involved. R

Life went crazy for awhile, as life is wont to do, and my LJing decreased to a trickle.

In any case, it seems that some are doing better than others, and some have had to reset. (I did too.)

What are the successes so far? What is it that you're doing right, that the rest of us can update our regimens with?

I find that, since I've been working out a lot, I've been a bottomless pit. I'm trying hard to cut back my calorie consumption, but I need the energy. Can anyone suggest any semi-tasteful sources of protein that don't involve meat? I know my constant carb craving is due in part to my lack of protein in my diet...

Poor college students [15 Jan 2004|12:50am]

Has anyone else noticed that the more fattening the food is, the cheaper it is?

I can't speak for anyone else here, but I know that I'm on an extremely limited budget at the moment, and sometimes breaking my diet is just a matter of not being about to afford the health food section. Celery and I are well acquainted, but that gets, I'm sure you all know, extremely old after awhile.

Anyone have any tips for getting healthy (in the high protein, low carb sense) food that's inexpensive?

Hi :) I just joined. Im one of the few that actually stood in line for the Bally's membership. I was actually #26 in line out of about 3000 people. Getting to the mall at 6am wasnt the bad part though... standing in line with people that apparently didnt shower that morning was awful!! Worth it though. I did my first Bally's workout last night and omg am I sore today.

Anyway, I just wanted to say good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone! I started my first day of the challenge today. I am SO EXCITED! I can't wait to get losing! Did anyone get the free membership to Bally's? I didn't because the line was horrific and I decided I didn't need one THAT badly.

Is anyone else having difficulty with the Body Challenge site? It keeps giving me blank pages and 404 errors.. not to mention will not let me change my 'carbs per day' level to below 100 grams.

Any ideas?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I think I've found an exersize plan. ;)
